As a charity, our mission is to raise awareness and funds to help conserve and enhance Ashdown Forest for everyone, for now and for generations to come.
The Forest’s precious heathland landscape is rarer than tropical rainforest and supports many rare and vulnerable species. The ecology is important, but the Forest also provides a vital resource for enjoyment, education, health and recreation for local communities and visitors to the area.
Inspired by the 100th anniversary of our most famous resident, Winnie-the-Pooh, we have launched a new fund; the Ashdown Forest 100 year Legacy Fund.
The goal is to establish a long-term funding pot that will support the Forest for future generations and all the species that live within it.
Local businesses and organisations are a part of the Forest’s ecosystem and we’d like to invite you to be an integral part of its story and future.

Special Projects
Headline or Match Sponsor
Support larger impact projects that underpin the Forest’s conservation and biodiversity strategy. Examples include:
- Capital items – such as forest vehicles
- Accessibility – to improve access on the forest for individuals of all abilities
- Species & habitat conservation – the Exmoor pony grazing project is an example of a habitat management project the Foundation has supported.
- Fundraising events – stand out events to engage the community and raise funds for the 100 year legacy fund.
All the funds we raise will be going into the 100 year legacy fund pot. The goal is to provide a solid foundation for the next 100 years to preserve and protect the Forest, access to it and the species that thrive there. In short, we’d love your support for as long as you can offer it.
The small business supporter is on a rolling direct debit for £25/month and of course you can cancel this at any time.
Corporate Guardian: this is an annual sponsorship that we would love for you to commit to for more than a year and ideally for a minimum of 2 years. Speak to us about what could work.
Donation point sponsor: This is an annual sponsorship fee which can be continued for as long as you want.
We would love you to be involved. If you don’t have the budget for financial support there are alternatives. Here are some ideas:
- For £25/month you can join as a small business supporter; see details above
- If you’re a venue you could host one of our donation points for free and get the socials and shout-outs for your business on our channels
- Fundraiser Supporter – if you and your team are planning a challenge this year, why not do it for the Forest and we’ll add you to the website as a fundraising supporter and give you lots of social shout-outs during your challenge.
- Promote fundraising for the Forest via your marketing channels
- Provide expertise and support – we often welcome (we really do) the additional hands-on expertise of people from the local community and businesses to help us with fundraising activities.
- Support in kind is always welcome too – such as expertise, equipment, events support, or prizes.
No, anyone who would like to support Ashdown Forest and its legacy can do so. Some of our supporters are even based overseas! Whether you are purely interested in conservation, the Forest as an open area for everyone to enjoy, or you were enchanted by Winnie-the-Pooh’s adventures and you want to help protect his home everyone is welcome!
